Composite Seminars

Professional seminars and trainings regarding testing of fiber-reinforced plastics

Overview

Regarding the topic of material testing of fiber-reinforced plastics, Grasse Zur Composite Testing offers a number of interesting professional seminars and training opportunities. The trainings are taking place in our head office in Berlin close to our accredited test laboratory. They generally consist both of a theoretical and a practical part, including the experimental testing of composite materials. Please note that we have limited numbers of participations to guarantee a higher quality for the professional trainings.

Feedback of participants

  • “Very good seminar, balanced shares of theory and practice!”
  • “Excellent atmosphere! The lecturers have a brilliant know-how!”
  • “Great practical part and very good presentation!”
  • “I particularly liked the balance between theory and practice.”
  • “The lecturers are open for every question and always answering helpfully!”

Seminar Overview

The professional seminars proper curing of resin hardener systems – part I and part II are held in cooperation with Netzsch Thermal Analysis. The seminar “testing with strain gauges in theory and practice” is held in cooperation with Althen Sensors & Controls.

There is a limited number of participation places for students and scientific employees of universities at a reduced price. Just get in touch with us.

Calender 2024

The professional seminars offer the time and opportunity to make contacts and to discuss everyday challenges and questions.

After the first day of the event, the discussions can be continued in a pleasant atmosphere during dinner.

Seminar Lecturers

Grasse Zur Composite Testing offers a series of professional seminars and training courses on the subject of material testing of fibre-reinforced plastics. The company cooperates with lecturers who have gained their many years of experience in research and development.

The lecturers can be contacted at any time before and after the professional seminars. Just get in touch with us.

Dr. rer. nat. habil. Wolfgang Stark

Dr. Wolfgang Stark studied physics at the Humboldt-Universität Berlin. After completing his research studies in semiconductor physics, he was awarded his doctorate in 1975. In the same year he joined the Institute of Polymer Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences in Teltow-Seehof as a research assistant in the field of polymer physics. After his initial occupation with infrared spectroscopy, he switched to the electret group and developed methods for electret applications in microphones and sensors. He habilitated in this field in 1985. A new field of work was mechanical testing including DMA on synthetic high-temperature fibers.

In 1991 he became a scientific assistant at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in the laboratory for thermosets. The focus was on the continuation of the traditional monitoring of the production of thermoset parts for the electrical industry and the award of the quality mark. This also included the development of methods for process control with dielectric and ultrasonic measuring methods. Together with partners from industry and the AVK e.V. Germany a number of joint research projects were carried out. In 1998, the project group, consisting of ISK Iserlohn, Bakelite Letmathe and BAM, was awarded the AVK Innovation Price for the development of online process control US-Plus. From 2006 onwards, he headed the elastomere reference materials laboratory at BAM with its own elastomer pilot plant.

M.Sc. Nadine von der Eltz

Nadine von der Eltz gained an in-depth insight into general materials testing and the characterisation of the mechanical properties of all classes of materials during her studies of materials science at the Technical University of Berlin. She has supplemented this with practical experience through her subsequent work as a research assistant at the Department of Structure and Properties of Materials at TU Berlin.

As head of the materials testing laboratory at Grasse Zur Composite Testing, she applies her expertise in the field of destructive materials testing of fibre-reinforced plastics and thermal analysis. Her skills in the use of universal testing machines and in the application of many testing standards are constantly being expanded through her day-to-day work.

Dr.-Ing. Marc Prewitz

Dr. Marc Prewitz studied materials science at the Technical University of Berlin. After a long period of employment as a student assistant at the Institute for Research and Development of Sports Equipment (FES), he worked as a test engineer. He then moved to the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and completed his PhD in the field of high-pressure hydrogen storage.

After his PhD, he moved to the Department of Aircraft Construction and Lightweight Design at the Technical University of Berlin. Since then he has been working there as a research assistant and, among other things, supervises the course “Fatigue strength of lightweight structures made of metallic and fibre composite materials”.

M.Sc. Janot Lubritz

Janot Lubritz studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin. During his studies, he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology in the area of production systems. Since September 2020, he has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Technische Universität Berlin. There he is responsible for a research project on the development and verification of probabilistic material models for fibre-reinforced plastic composites in the production engineering design and verification of aerospace components. His activities focus on numerical simulation and mechanical material testing of fibre composite structures.
